Bodhrán / Percussion

Galway-born Eric Cunningham has brought impressive entrepreneurial skills to bear on a number of business involvements. As a musician he has performed in numerous concert halls across six continents from Beijing to Broadway. He has been a soloist with various orchestras including the National Symphony Orchestra (Ireland), RTE Concert Orchestra, Irish Chamber Orchestra, Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra and the U.A.E. Philharmonic Orchestra.  In addition, he has worked and recorded with top Irish traditional artists.  He has been critically acclaimed as a composer, producer and director, and his talents can be seen in the show ‘Dance of Desire’ which he also co-owns and which has performed across the world extensively.  As a producer & promoter, Eric has promoted international rock star Bryan Adams in his home town to 18,000 people, produced the ‘Dubai Irish Festival’ in the United Arab Emirates and is also the Co-Founder and Festival Director of ‘The World Fleadh’ which is now Ireland’s biggest Irish & Celtic music festival.  Eric works closely with Tourism Ireland in promoting Ireland overseas and recently organised the cultural promotion of Ireland in India.  He holds a degree and first class honours masters in music from University College Cork and was also awarded the ‘Seán O Riada Memorial Award’ by the National University of Ireland for his knowledge of Irish music.  He performs with virtuoso fiddle player Frankie Gavin and his band Hibernian Rhapsody and also manages the band’s affairs.  In the past year he has played support to the Rolling Stones at their Irish date at Slane Castle and performed at The White House for President Bush.  Eric was also nominated for a Mayoral Award from Galway City Council (2005), awarded the National Outstanding Young Person of the Year Award by Junior Chamber Ireland (2005) and also presented with a Rehab People of the Year Award (2006).

Eric is the creator and producer of ‘Women of Ireland’ and his company Celtic Entertainments plans to bring this unique act to Europe, the United States of America, Asia and Australia during 2009/10.
